YAL turns 120 in 2025 with a rich historical collection from Australia and around the world. As we embrace the start of a new era we are looking at reducing our historical collection whilst still retaining the items that best tell the YAL story. Using the Framework that has already been created this role will involve using the framework to reduce the collection and connect the remainder of pieces with their more appropriate custodians.
YAL is a non-profit organisation like no other, supporting young Australians for more than 110 years. From its early years of promoting AFL to the development of sporting groups, bands, concert parties and touring groups, YAL has always been about the best interests of young people of Australia. Today this support is been transformed into a unique scholarship program that allows the youth themselves to shape their own futures with a hand up not a hand out.
