Role Title: Development of Photographic Records Management Intern
Organisation: Girl Guides WA
Internship Period: Summer (November - December)
Location: Belmont
The intern will be working at our state office - colloquially referred to as Guide House - in Belmont. We have a paid staff of 8 in the office plus several volunteer management and governance personnel who maintain working space in the building.
With recent changes in staff and an update of our database we have been working on our electronic records management and a major part of this is dealing with the significant number of photographs in our system. Some have historic interest and need to be archived. Others need to be labelled and catalogued so they can be accessed effectively. For example, many will be suitable for use in promotional materials and others could be of interest to Guides in the various regions around the state and metropolitan area who are interested in the development of guiding in their area.
It is envisaged that the project will involve an initial assessment of the scope of the task followed by the development of a project plan. This should include creating a cataloguing system for the ongoing storage of the photos, with associated sorting criteria, and then beginning the process of filing the material appropriately. Given the scale of the project it may not be possible to completely sort all the images but it would be desirable that the established system can be managed by someone else into the future.
The intern will work with the Communications and Marketing Coordinator under the supervision of the Executive Officer.
