Entrepreneurship Research Intern

Role Title: Entrepreneurship Research Intern

Organisation: UWA Office of Commercial Development (OICD)

Internship Period: Summer (November - December)

Location: Crawley

Role Description

The intern will establish a structured, updateable record of UWA-affiliated entrepreneurs, including a searchable database and a set of case studies on prominent alumni founders. This will enable us to better understand and showcase UWA’s entrepreneurial impact. The data will be used to update WA Dealroom. https://wa.dealroom.co/intro
Focus Areas: The student’s research will cover: • Alumni-founded startups and companies. • Alumni founders who have raised significant capital (e.g., AUD 10 million or more). • UWA alumni startups reaching unicorn status or projected as future unicorns. • Key metrics for each entity, including founder names, business names, contact details, ABNs, founding dates, employee count, funding raised, valuations, and ASX listing information where relevant. Outcomes and Impact: The intern’s work will create a foundational tool for OICD to track, support, and celebrate UWA entrepreneurs. This data will not only enhance our internal insights but will also be shared with the WA Government to support their economic development objectives. The project outcomes will be an invaluable resource for promoting UWA's impact in the entrepreneurial landscape and will contribute to building an ecosystem that nurtures future founders.
