Role Title: Research Intern
Organisation: Australian Council on Smoking and Health (ACOSH)
Internship Period: Semester 1 (February - May)
Location: Subiaco
ACOSH's role as an advocacy organisation requires flexibility, in responding to current issues or community needs. With this in mind, the role will be hands-on, with the opportunity to have a direct impact on the tobacco control space. We are looking for a self-starter who is interested in learning new skills and immersing themselves in the public health sphere. We are currently running a range of interesting and impactful research projects in direct response to recent legislative changes in tobacco control.
ACOSH's focus is on tobacco industry interference in policy-making. Some examples of projects we are working on include an audit of pharmacies to gauge if they are stocking vapes, the attitudes of pharmacists towards the change of legislation, and if any industry interference exists. Additionally, ACOSH is focusing on how we can assist local councils in developing measures such as Smoke-free Town Centres.
ACOSH is a small team, we are all very hands-on and work together closely, this role would require a willingness to jump in where required and take a proactive approach.
ACOSH's mission is to advocate for a tobacco and vape-free future.
