Role Description

Western Australia has committed to Safe and Supported: the National Framework for Protecting Australia’s Children (Safe and Supported) 2021-2031. The Child Protection Strategic Policy team, within the Strategy and Partnerships is the lead for implementing both the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander First Action Plan and the First Action Plan under Safe and Supported.
Two projects relate to: • Delegated authority: Commitment to progressive systems transformation that has First Nations self- determination at the centre. • Active Efforts: Implementation of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principle (ATSICPP) to the standard of active efforts. The role of the intern would be to provide policy support to aid in the development of these projects. This may include activities such as: • research and scoping • an analysis of the guidance manuals and other documentation to identify alignment between current practice, intersects and gaps which may inform future focus areas • mapping WA actions against national strategies and actions • using Canva to develop infographics • project coordination.
