Role Title: Innovation Intern
Organisation: South Metropolitan Health Service
Internship Period: Summer (November - December)
Location: Murdoch
Intern is required to support the LifeFit SurgFit Project. This project aims to improve outcomes for patients undergoing surgery by providing them with low barrier, sustainable access to a network of clinical and healthy lifestyle pathways that support them to build and maintain their wellbeing.
The clinical team, innovation team, and inpatients developed SCI-App - a beta app, which offers inpatients a digital education platform and personal rehabilitation timetable. Whilst the beta app won the 2022 South Metropolitan Health Service Excellence Award in the Innovation category further development is needed to add and improve features to provide a more comprehensive suite of digital tools and to enhance current modules.
The intern will support the spinal unit clinical team and the SMHS innovation team to advance the beta app with the aim of achieving an interactive, comprehensive, and user-friendly tool. This will include information to assist each individual with SCI to be well informed in addressing their current and future needs and the management of those.
