Research intern, The ORIGINS Project (Iron levels in children)

Role Title: Research intern, The ORIGINS Project (Iron levels in children)

Organisation: The Kids Research Institute Australia

Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)

Location: Nedlands

Role Description

The ORIGINS Project is a prospective, longitudinal birth cohort, recruiting 10,000 pregnant women and their partners antenatally and following each family over a five-year period. One sub-project within ORIGINS is looking at iron levels in 1, 3 and 5 year-old participants. The aims of this project are to understand (i) the health and behavioural outcomes associated with low iron levels, and how these are affected by iron supplementation and (ii) families’ experiences with low iron and iron supplementation. In this student project, we would like a student to assist with planning, running and analysing responses from some focus groups exploring parents experiences with and barriers to providing iron supplementation to their children.
