Role Title: Marketing and Communications Intern
Organisation: The Digitisation Centre of Western Australia (DCWA)
Internship Period: Summer (November - December)
Location: Crawley & Perth City
The Digitisation Centre of Western Australia (DCWA) is a digitisation facility providing services at archival level to collecting institutions in Western Australia. The Western Australian Universities (Curtin University, Edith Cowan University, Murdoch University, Notre Dame University and the University of Western Australia), the State Library of Western Australia and the Western Australian Museum are the main partners of the Centre, and the Centre offers fee-based services to smaller local government and community organisations. The Centre is capable of digitising collections in a wide range of paper-based and photographic as well as audio and audio-visual formats, opening up opportunities for researchers and interested members of the public to access, analyse and write about collections in WA that are of high cultural significance at local, national and international levels.
The DCWA’s facility is split across two locations. Paper-based, photographic and audio-visual materials are digitised at the main laboratory in Barry J Marshall Library on UWA Crawley campus, while audio collections are digitised at the sound studios of the State Library of Western Australia.
As the appointee you will, under supervision, develop and implement the DCWA’s communication plan, enhance the digital presence of the Centre, and provide event support as required.
The Digitisation Centre of Western Australia (DCWA) is an important piece of infrastructure that aims to digitise, to global archival standards, the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences collections held in Western Australia. DCWA offers a digitisation service for paper-based, photographic, audio and audio-visual materials to collecting institutions in Western Australia.
