The State Solicitor's Office (SSO) is responsible for the provision of broad based, high quality legal services to the Government of WA and to a wide range of state government client departments and agencies.
In October 2021, the SSO became an independent sub-department of the Department of Justice (DoJ) in response to the 2018 Special Inquiry into Government Programs and Projects (the Langoulant Report).
Effective from 1 July 2024, the Department of Treasury has released the new Treasurer's Instructions framework, which imposes additional compliance requirements for the State Solicitor's Office's financial governance and operations.
The intern(s) will work closely with the Chief Finance Officer and the Principal Accountants to review the financial delegations, best practice guides, and Treasury's Guidance Handbook to develop the SSO's own financial management manual, and a set of financial and administrative procedures. Key tasks will include research, data collection and analysis, policy development, reporting and other duties as required.
