Research Intern - Interventions for Families Experiencing Pre-term Birth and NICU Admission

Role Title: Research Intern - Interventions for Families Experiencing Pre-term Birth and NICU Admission

Organisation: The Kids Research Institute Australia

Internship Period: Summer (November - December)

Location: Nedlands

Role Description

The Kids Research Institute are currently seeking students with an interest in mental health, infant health, family functioning, and/or men's health and wellbeing to join our team working toward improving outcomes for Australian families.
The intern will be joining The Human Development and Community Wellbeing Team at The Kids Research Institute. The project is led by Dr Vincent Mancini and supported by Dr Thom Nevill and Ezra Kneebone who will work closely with the student. We are currently working on designing an intervention program aimed at supporting fathers, male caregivers, and non-birthing parents who are experiencing a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) admission due to complications associated with the birth of their baby. For this phase of the project, we intend to undertake a narrative or rapid review review of existing support resources in Australia that attempt to address these needs. The aim is to synthesise existing support programs, and to highlight gaps for future intervention programs. The student will aid in the literature search, extraction of key results, and preparation of findings. They will also gain additional experience in the research process, including some data analysis and knowledge translation.
