Citizen Science Intern

Role Title: Citizen Science Intern

Organisation: Conservation Council WA

Internship Period: Semester 2 (July – October)

Location: West Perth

Role Description

The intern will assist with the planning, delivery, and follow-up of upcoming Bioblitz events, which are short, intensive biodiversity surveys involving scientists, community members, and volunteers. This role will involve supporting event logistics and outreach in the lead-up to the events, helping with coordination and community engagement during the events, and contributing to data collation and communication activities afterwards.
The intern will work primarily with the citizen science program manager and supporting groups, and will interact with local community groups, volunteers, scientists, and project partners. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in citizen science, biodiversity monitoring, and community-based conservation. We have one bioblitz planned at Julimar for 5th-7th September and also will be taking part in the Great Southern Bioblitz in October. The intern doesn't necessarily have to be available on those dates (they obviously can if they would like) but the main tasks will be helping in the lead up and potentially with evaluation after the event. These will take place in the office in West Perth. We may make a field trip out in the lead up too (again optional for the intern).
