Civil Law Framework Intern

Role Title: Civil Law Framework Intern

Organisation: Legal Aid WA

Internship Period: Semester 1 (February - May)

Location: Perth CBD

Role Description

In Semester 2, 2023, and Semester 1 2024, Legal Aid WA Civil Law Division engaged an intern through the McCusker Centre for Citizenship to develop a statement of purpose, a set of core values and values in action for the Civil Law Division at Legal Aid WA, and conduct a literature review into unmet Civil Legal need within Western Australia. The project interns consulted with staff and stakeholders.
The next step of the project is to look at the civil law services that the Division provides and compare these to the areas of law identified in the legal needs literature review, and consider whether they are aligned to this, and to the statement of purpose, and writing a report and recommendations about future service delivery. The intern will work directly with the Civil Law Division Director and Leadership team, and will engage with all of the Division's staff. The intern may also consult with internal and external stakeholders.
