Role Description

Children's University is an award-winning equity outreach program delivered by the Student Equity team at The University of Western Australia, in partnership with Edith Cowan University, and Children's University Australasia. It fosters a love of learning and aspirations for lifelong learning for primary school children, working especially closely in school communities that are traditionally underrepresented at university. Through the program, children are encouraged to participate in voluntary extracurricular learning beyond the classroom. This can include learning experiences in the community, at UWA campuses, and at home.
For this internship, your project will be to design a campus tour activity for primary school children and parents, focusing on the campus as a natural space - its gardens, plants, and river location (Derbal Yerrigan). You will research ideas and best practise for nature-based learning and consult with teams across UWA, including the UWA Student Equity team, UWA School of Biological Sciences, UWA Friends of the Grounds, UWA Grounds Team - Campus Management, and UWA School of Indigenous Studies. You will also have the chance to participate in our September on-campus learning events for Children's University families. This is an exciting project that will help you to develop skills in STEM learning design, event planning, communication, collaboration, and community engagement.
