Role Description

The Strategic Communications Unit (SCU) provides a whole-of-government strategic communications service.
The SCU develops, delivers and advises on government advertising campaigns and communications projects related to key government priorities. The SCU operates across six streams of work: campaigns (paid advertising), digital communications (web and social), strategic communications (stakeholder engagement and issues management), design, internal communications as well as governance and administration. This unit operates in a fast-paced, flexible and responsive environment that adapts to rapid changes whilst dealing with competing deadlines. Once tasked with a project, the SCU’s role will be to either advise and amplify, support or lead on communications activities working closely with other government agencies. The intern role will assist across the SCU’s six streams with a focus on the campaigns and digital teams. The campaigns team leads, amplifies, or supports paid Government advertising, the digital team manages WA Government owned channels including social strategy, content, publishing and reporting as well as WA.gov.au and key government priority website development and management. The intern would have a direct SCU line manager within either the campaigns or digital team, the line manager would set up fortnightly WIPs and help plan workload.
