Role Description

This role will be based on-site at the Kids Research Institute of Australia, located at Perth Children's Hospital. The research intern will be supervised by Rachael Heaphy-Scaife and Kate Erceg, as part of the Human Development and Community Wellbeing Team (Population Health).
The role involves working on a systematic audit of the evidence-based information on a cyber safety app called ‘Beacon’, which was developed by the team in 2020. Beacon is a research translation tool aimed at upskilling the knowledge and self-efficacy of parents and carers to help their children engage with the online world in a safe and positive way. The intern will be shown the process for ensuring the information on Beacon is still relevant and accurate, and how to amend it if not. The intern will also have the opportunity to create their own short articles for the app to address any information gaps identified, such as new apps or trends, using recent research and other sources of evidence-based information. This is important for ensuring the app remains relevant and helpful for parents and carers. Tasks will involve: -Reviewing and auditing content on the Beacon app -Using an Excel spreadsheet to document audit progress -Researching and writing short articles (250 words) for publishing on Beacon app There will also be opportunities to assist with other work conducted by the research team including analysing data, writing reports and a review of other cyber safety health promotion tools.
