Role Title: Communications and Marketing Internship
Organisation: Kinship Connections Aboriginal Corporation
Internship Period: Summer (November - December)
Location: Kewdale (Bentley)
Kinship Connections is a grassroots Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation working in the child foster care sector. In WA, 59% of children in the care of the State are Aboriginal which means that an Aboriginal child in WA is 21 times more likely to be in out-of-home care. Our organisation places culture at the centre of our decision-making and service models, to strengthen the Social and Emotional Wellbeing of Aboriginal of carers and children in care. In doing so, we aim to break the cycles of intergenerational trauma stemming from colonisation and the Stolen Generations in our Communities.
As an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, we seek someone who is flexible in their thinking, and, if you are non-Aboriginal, curious about learning Aboriginal ways of working, and have the humility and openness to reflect on their worldview.
You will work to assist us in reviewing our various communication policies and procedures to co-produce one overarching communications strategy including creating a communications and marketing framework. You will suggest ways to apply the strategy and framework to service programs within Kinship, develop content for different media channels, create plans, and schedule social media posts.
Kinship is about to undergo rebranding changes and promote new services, which involves creating content, new marketing materials, and updating/refreshing our website.
Mission - To promote culturally secure changes in thinking, policy, practice and in the delivery of programs about the connection of children and young people with their Aboriginal birth families.
Vision - A world where all Aboriginal children and young people are standing strong with the knowledge of their kinship connections.
